End of Year 2019
Sequan is a very special 16-year-old. He is living out his life as a teenage boy striving to pursue Christ. RDC had the opportunity to meet Sequan when he was in middle school and started to develop a relationship with him through the Adopt-a-Block outreaches in his neighborhood. He would come out to get groceries for his family and slowly over time he started having more of an interest in God. He then attended a youth event at a church where an RDC staff member spoke and Sequan gave his life to Christ.
Sequan is experiencing the typical life of any highschooler, between homework, girls and friends. But, he also struggles with depression and has found it difficult at times to get out of bed. He feels the battle deep inside and at times it is a real fight.
Through Raleigh Dream Center, Sequan has had the opportunity to meet a variety of people who have reached into his life and loved him. Some of his favorites are Jon & Kathy Miller, who are both regular volunteers with RDC. Sequan said “through all my trials they have stood there with me. I can come to the Millers with a problem and they teach me about how Jesus is the truth in my life. I have found hope in my life through Jesus and what they have shared with me. I have heard the gospel and now understand its power.”
The Millers have been immeasurably blessed by serving with RDC regularly and seeing how being invested in someone’s life has taught them so much. The Millers shared that it has been such a gift to see Sequan grow because now, “he has joy and hope for his life and it has been such an honor to witness how the gospel breaks down the barriers built up in our lives.”
