Food Ministry

BEHIND THE SCENES HELP THAT PROPELS THE MINISTRY

Every week we are able to pick up food at the Central Eastern North Carolina Food Bank.  This is where 80% of the food comes from that goes out to all of the ministries including Adopt-A-Block,  PathWay and KidzJam.  Our partnership with the Food Bank began in March 2017, which brought a boost in the the amount of food we had access to, while also lowering our cost to providing food to the communities that we serve.

HELP BY VOLUNTEERING

We need volunteers to help in many areas of our food ministry in order to keep our outreaches happening.

FOOD BANK SHOPPING:  Weekly on Thursdays around 10:30 – 12:30.  We are looking for people who could serve once a week or to rotate monthly to shop at the food bank.  We need 3 people to meet at the food bank, spend one hour shopping, then loading the food into the truck.  Volunteers would be lifting boxes from 15-50 pounds each.  Location is CENC Food Bank at 1924 Capital Blvd, Raleigh 27604.  We are also looking for people to drive the box truck which would be a 2 hour commitment to include 30 minutes of travel time to and from the food bank and our food pantry.

FOOD PREP FRIDAYS:  2nd & 4th Fridays of the month from 3:00 – 6:00.  We are looking for people who could serve to help with organizing and staging the food for our Adopt-A-Block ministry the next day.  This would involve organizing boxes with appropriate amounts of food per location.  Volunteers would be lifting boxes from 15-50 pounds each and help organize our vehicles.  If you interested in helping, please notify us by the Thursday before so we can confirm with you the time and location.

FOOD PANTRY IN-TAKE & ORGANIZING:   (coming Nov. 2019)  Once our new facility opens in 2019, we will be in great need of regular volunteers who help us with processing incoming food donations and organizing a food pantry.  Please, if you have any interest in helping, let us know now.
